We maintain compatibility between OSS and Cloud version. No technological lock-ins, no dark patterns.

We believe that in house server setup and maintenance is low value-add, but grant it's necessary in some cases. We see performance and efficiency gains in having our Saleor team manage loads, updates and security but if your team prefers in house, we're 100% behind you with OSS. Also, Saleor extensions support Cloud and OSS, so remember to check out the Marketplace for opportunities to bring efficiency to your project and invest in the future of your favorite e-commerce stack!
  • OSS → Cloud: Probably. If you run a vanilla Saleor OSS build version compatible with Saleor Cloud (currently 2.11) then the answer is: Yes! :yay: If you run a different version, you may need to update your storefront to a version compatible with the Cloud API and migrate data. If you have more questions please reach us out here.
  • Cloud → OSS: Yes. We maintain the compatibility of the Cloud API with Saleor OSS. All you need to take care of is data migration. Also, in order to continue using Saleor Apps you will still need your Cloud account for Apps Billing purposes.
